Elderberry and elderflower tea recipe

Original Elderberry-Flower Tea Recipe

The first tea we developed, this tea combines elderflower and elderberry, with minimal spices and supporting flavors. The combination of elderflower and elderberry makes for a well-balanced tea, neither too heavy nor too light. This recipe will give you plenty to enjoy, or double for easy gifts and sharing.

Elderberry-Flower Tea Mix

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups dried elderberry
  • 1 ½ Cups dried elderflower
  • 1/3 Cup Korintje cinnamon* or chopped cinnamon sticks
  • 1/3 Cup dried orange peel pieces (small pieces or grated, powdered not preferred)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare any ingredients that may need chopping (see note below for cinnamon alternatives).
  2. Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized kitchen bowl.
  3. Stir or mix with clean hands to combine ingredients until evenly mixed through. Stirring in a bowl is preferable to shaking in a jar, as too much shaking will break up tender elderflowers.
  4. Transfer to a one-quart glass jar or other sealed container. Seal tightly with a tight-fitting lid to store.
  5. Use about one teaspoon of blend to eight ounces per cup of water to prepare.
