Elderberry Cocoa nib Tea

Elderberry Cocoa Nib Tea Recipe

Two deep, delicious flavors come together in this tea, two all-time favorites: cocoa and elderberry. Cocoa nibs (aka cocao nibs) are naturally low in sugar, contain fiber and essential minerals, and are also high in antioxidants! This tea is an excellent way to get your cocoa fix without added fats and sugars, too!

Elderberry Cocoa Nib Tea Mix

ingredients:

  • 1 Cup dried elderberries
  • ¼ Cup cocoa nibs (also called cocao nibs)
  • 2 Tablespoons cinnamon pieces (chopped sticks or Korintje cinnamon recommended)

instructions

  1. If using chopped cinnamon sticks, prepare the sticks by pounding, crushing, or chopping them into small pieces (about 1/8 to ¼ inch in size). Take care if chopping cinnamon sticks with a knife, as they are hard and knives can easily slip off the sticks. A better way to break the cinnamon sticks into pieces may be to put them in a bag and roll them with a rolling pin, or pound them with a kitchen mallet.
  2. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the dried elderberries, cocoa nibs, and cinnamon pieces.
  3. Stir through to combine an evenly distribute the ingredients.
  4. Store the tea in a glass mason jar or other airtight container.
  5. To serve, use one teaspoon Elderberry Cocoa Nib tea mix for each 8-ounce cup of tea. Sweeten if desired, A teaspoon of honey is the recommended sweetener, or use your favorite sweetener to desired sweetness.
